Justice Peter Heerey was appointed President
of the Defence Force Discipline Appeal Tribunal on 8 September
2000. His Honour has been a judge
of the Federal Court of Australia since 1990.
After graduating from the University of Tasmania
with degrees in Law (First Class Honours) and Arts his Honour practised
for four years as a solicitor and then as a barrister at the Victorian
Bar from 1967. In 1985 his Honour was appointed Queen's Counsel.
His Honour is Chair of the Advisory Committee
for the Graduate Program in Intellectual Property at the University
of Melbourne.
His Honour served in 18 National Service Training
Battalion and the Royal Australian Army Service Corps (CMF).
